Charlie AI Silent Film Creation App
Creative app concept design
CharllieAI is a hackathon project with the theme of combining old and new. Inspired by Charlie Chaplin, I came up with the concept of creating silent films instantly, using AI techniques such as highlight detection and video to text techniques. Together along with Machine Learning and mobile developers, we managed to create a beta app that can achieve this feature within 2 days.
Role: Brand Designer, Product Designer
How it Works: there were 3 main technical work required during processing:
1. Highlight detection for input videos
2. Summarizing video into written text
3. Making text summary into short story with ChatGPT
User Flow: From the users' perspective, the only step is to select the videos, and the app will automatically complete the rest.
(To keep it flexible, the users can also choose to edit their clips or the text)
Icon & Wordmark exploration
For the branding, we would like to capture the essence of silent film while sprinkling a hint of AI magic. For the icon, we tried out different concepts regarding film and exploring the motifs of Charlie Chaplin.
In the end, we decided on a rather clean and iconic look, using Charlie Chaplin's symbolic hat and mustache as the main icon, along with black and beige tones to bring out the vintage aesthetic.We also added a tiny spark on the wordmark to indicate the AI aspect of the product.
